ExtraOrdinary Venice

ExtraOrdinary Venice is the Venice we love best: a Venice extraordinarily out of the ordinary. And what are even more extraordinary are the threads hidden within its densely-woven architectural system. These invisible threads are revealed by our Venetian itineraries, far from the main tourist tracks, leading you to discover the historic-artistic heritage hidden throughout the city, illustrated by highlighting in particular the social and anthropological traits of Venice both past and present.
It is a living and present-day tale which talks about the stones of the houses and churches, the centuries-old Venetian hospices and the Scuole Grandi and Piccole, which in the past acted as a privileged means of social cohesion and support for the Venetian state, and today are the custodians of an inestimable historic-artistic patrimony, as well as being active participants in the city’s social life.
ExtraOrdinary Venice wants to show that the city can be experienced in a more sustainable way and how important it is to get to know that part of the history of Venice which is not always sufficiently depicted.
The ExtraOrdinary Venice itineraries answer many of the questions usually left unanswered in that the buildings alone are unable to tell us everything we want to know. It is an intense two-hour experience and afterwards you will feel part of this city: a percentage of the tour fee goes to a fund dedicated to safeguarding and restoring minor art in Venice.
The ExtraOrdinary Venice project has garnered the interest of the Culture Management Laboratory (m.a.c. lab) of Ca’ Foscari University in Venice.
Venezia Arte is offering you this series of alternative itineraries dedicated to a lesser-known Venice.
